Ancienne Douane - Customs house

This impressive former department store at the Raven Bridge is today a good restaurant. During the Middle Ages, it was a warehouse for taxable products. The house was built in 1358. Until the 18th century, it was the centre of commerce in Strasbourg. Due to the bomb attacks by the German Wehrmacht during World War II, the former customs house was largely damaged and only in 1956, it was rebuilt in the same style.

Today, there is a restaurant in it. From its terace, one has a great view over the Ill and on the Quai Saint-Nicolas.
