Naturally, the famous Christmas market of Strasbourg will take place in the European metropole this year as well. It is scheduled for November 25rd to December 24th and if you are planning to visit Strasbourg at that time of the year, you are absolutely right! Strasbourg's Christmas market is one of the most beautiful in Europe - and one of the oldest: the so-called "Christkindlsmärik" took place for the first time in 1570. Since then, it is a very popular Christmas market offering a wide range of products. There are different locations in Strasbourg where market stands can be found - you will find them below. An interesting aspect of the market is its global point of view: every year, another country is presented in its own "village", where you can eat specialities and buy typical objects from this country.

From the 26th of December up to the end of the Christmas market only the markets in the Place de la Cathédrale, Place you Vieux-Marché-aux-Poissons, in rue de la grandee Boucherie as well as in rue de Rohan and in the terrace you palace of Rohan are opened.

The Christmas market in Lauterburg is scheduled for the 8th to the 9th december. In the City centre you can visit (Place de la Republique) numerous christmashuts which offer many treats and ideas for presents.

Weißenburg
The Christmas Market in Weißenburg which also is known as Wissembourg opens its doors four Weekends before Christmas Eve. A speciality is the lightning of the advent candle which takes place at the city hall at 17 oʹclock.

Hagenau

The Hagenauer Christmas market which can be found on the Place Joseph Thierry and the Cours de la Décapole starts at the 23rd of november and ends at december, 30th. The visitors can meet the typical alsatian figures of christmas like the Saint Nikolaus or the Hans Trapp.
