Arts have always played an important role in Reinhold Würth's life and so they do for the company. The art patron promotes different art genres as well as literature and music.
The Würth Museum in Erstein
In 2008, this museum was inaugurated opposite to the French headquarters of Würth, in the Western industrial zone of Erstein in Alsace. The museum exhibit a part of the Würth collectio which is one of the most important art collections of a company in Europe.
Today, the Würth collection comprises about 110 000 artpieces, especially dating from the 20th and 21st century, like works by Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, Paul Baum, Heinrich von Zügel, Max Liebermann, Edvard Munch, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Gabriele Münter, Emil Nolde, Max Beckmann, Max Ernst, René Magritte and André Masson. The conception of the museum is not only addressed to the company's employees, but also to those interested in arts.
Every year, the Würth Museum presents two different exhibitions, either according to a certain subject or monographic, comprising paintings, scultpures and drawings of the collection. All exhibitions are accompanied by a cultural programme including conferences, guided tours, lectures and artist audiences.
The museum itself is a very interesting building: it is a beautiful mixture of glass, creating transparency, and beton walls, representing opacity. It was created in order to fit the demans of the art collection. The exhibition surface of 800m² returns the heterogenity of the artworks.
A five hectars big parc is adjoining the building, it received the award "Prix de l'Arbre d'Or" in 2000 and was created by Martine Rascles. Lots of local animals live here.
