This monument at the Place de la République was created to remind of the soldiers killed in action during World War I. It was built in 1936 by Leon Drivier. One can see a mother, symbolizing Strasbourg, and her two sons for whom she's mourning. One of them died as a French soldier, the other one in German army, but in death, they are holding each other's hand for reconciliation.
