This monument shows general Kellermann who is known for his victory over the Prussians in the battle of Valny in 1792. In the following of the battles, monarchy was abolished in France and the First French Republic was declared. In 1793, Louis XVI and later his wife Marie Antoinette were executed in public.
The monument made of bronze can be found at the edge of Place Broglie, next to the officer's mess. The famous general was born in Rue Brûlée which is nearby in 1735.
