The long building in which is located the European Court of Human Rights can easily be recognized by its two cylinders. It has been designed by the British architect Richard Rogers. In front of the entrance of the building, you can see a painted part of the Berlin Wall which had been put up for the inauguration in 1995.
At the European Court of Human Rights, legal experts who art part of the European Union observe the obeying of Human Rights in Europe. Every citizen has the possibility to file a grievance against a state in case he feels that his basic rights have been violated. However, all national instances of a legal action have to be taken.
