The sculptures by Jean Arp

Jean Arp (1887 - 1966) was a german painter, sculptor and poet. Three of his statues made of stone and bronze can be found in the district Esplanade, in the Avenue Général de Gaulle. Jean Arp is known for his appearing in Dadaism and Surrealism and he was part of the associaton "Abstraction-Création". He was born as son of a fabricant of cigars in Strasbourg, which was german at that time, and grew up bilingually with french and german.

His place of birth is in rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Poissons, 52.
