Musée Historique (Historical Museum)

This museum shows Strasbourg's history and presents for example antique weapons, medallions, uniforms etc.

Since 1920, this museum is located in the building of the "Grande Boucherie" (grand butcher's) where the butchers worked during the 16th century. Not only the military, but also the political and economic history of Strasbourg are documented here. The following things can be seen:

  • artillery objects and cannons from 1730 to 1740.
  • a facsimile of the "Oaths of Strasbourg" from 842
  • coats of arms, medallions and antique coins from the 12th and 15th century
  • weapons, uniforms and information about the wars of 1870/71, 1914 to 1918 and 1939 to 1945
  • mecanic toys from the 19th and 20th century

Opening hours:
Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm, closed on Mondays.
